Fed: Bruce Stadium sued for $1.2m
A catering and management company has taken the management of Canberra's beleaguered
Bruce Stadium to court to recover more than $1.2 million in alleged outstanding payments.
The move comes as the Australian Olympic Committee has threatened to take Olympic soccer
matches from Bruce because of the state of its playing surface.
Spotless Services Australia and its subsidiary Nationwide Venue Management filed the
application in the ACT Supreme Court today.
It is seeking the money from Stadiums Authority -- formerly Bruce Operations -- and
the ACT government.
The claim relates to a dispute over the level of services and income at the stadium
in the year to June 1999.
NVM chief executive LEWIS KAERGER says NVM has gone as far as it can on a commercial
basis to settle the matter, participating in long negotiations with ACT government officials.
